Wilson Racing just outside the top 20 in European Talent Cup Aragon

Moto3 Wilson Racing team from Barnsley were competing at the MotorLand circuit in Aragon last weekend. The local Moto3 team compete in the European Talent Cup (ETC). Jack Hart finished just outside the top twenty in the first European Talent Cup race and then 25th in race two. Seabright suffered some technical issues which meant he didn’t qualify for the main races. Forced to compete in the series 2 race for those outside the qualifying time Seabright left with some consolation as he took a comfortable win. Jack Hart managed 17th in his morning session. Despite the increased track temperature making it harder to improve on lap times in Q2 Hart cut six-tenths off his lap time to end 16th quickest. The 13 and 14 July will see round four of the European Talent Cup take place at the MotorLand circuit Aragon. There will be two races over the weekend. The circuit is known for its famous wall that forms the dramatic backdrop for many a photo of the competitors as they complete the 5.078 kilometres (3.155 mile) track. The two Wilson Racing riders will have to negotiate 7 left hand corners and 10 right and then quickly get up to speed down the main straight that is just under a kilometre in length. The track varies in elevation by 50 metres during the lap and features the reverse corkscrew between turns eight and nine. The official lap record for the European Talent Cup class is 2:03.909 which was set by Fermin Aldeguer in 2018, although Manuel Gonzalez was 0.435 seconds quicker with his qualifying lap the same year when he took pole position. Last year Jose Rueda and David Muñoz shared the race victories, with the rest of the podium positions shared between Victor Rodriguez, Xavier Artigas, David Salvador...

Tough assignment in Barcelona

Barnsley Moto3 team were out in Barcelona last weekend for the third round of the European Talent Cup. It was a tough weekend for both Fenton Seabright and Jack Hart. Seabright managed to finish in the points with 15th place whilst Jack Hart crossed the line in 33rd spot. Qualifying Fenton Seabright finished 11th overall in qualifying group A. In the first session the team struggled a bit with bike set-up with it being the first time at this circuit. Seabright finished 12th overall. In the second session he initially was up against it running low down the order. However, after some further adjustments he managed a lap of 1:53.935 for fifth in Q2. Only a handful of riders improved in the hotter conditions and this time put him 11th in the combined standings for group A. Jack Hart took part in the Group B qualifying sessions. Wilson Racing, the Moto3 team from Barnsley, suffered mixed fortunes over the weekend. Jack Hart showed fantastic pace but crashed out of both races, the first whilst leading. Seabright suffered a harsh grid penalty of 12 places but managed to comeback and score points in both races. Qualifying With 62 riders attempting to make the 38 rider grid qualifying was split into two groups. Jack Hart continued the form that saw him stand on the podium in the recent British Talent Cup event as he finished third in his group. Fenton Seabright also set a good lap time ending his two qualifying sessions in seventh overall. Unfortunately for the runner up in race one at Estoril, he was sanctioned with a 12 place grid penalty. With 62 riders entered for the European Talent Cup event at the famous Ricardo Tormo circuit the qualifying was split into two groups. In the first group, Fenton Seabright worked hard to do his best to mitigate the penalty he has to suffer in the first race of the weekend. He clocked a lap time of 1:44.690 which placed him seventh in his group in Q1. The riders were unable to improve on their lap times during the second session but Seabright finished sixth overall. Hart completed 21 laps, saving the best to the end. His last lap time of 1:43.687 put him just 0.179 seconds behind the fastest rider and third. A whole new championship lay in wait for Barnsley’s Wilson Racing last weekend. Having competed successfully in the Moto3 standard class of the British Superbike series, and taking the championship title in 2017, Gary Wilson entered the team into the European Talent Cup (ETC). The ETC is a standard Moto3 championship, based predominantly in Spain, and is seen by many as a stepping stone for riders that will eventually go on to MotoGP level. Both his riders come from the UK. Jack Hart raced in the championship a few years back and has some experience of the set up and the tracks. For Fenton Seabright most of the tracks are new, although he grew up in Spain and raced with some of the riders when he was younger. Wilson Racing, the Barnsley based Moto3 racing team, has announced that it will be competing in the extremely competitive European Talent Cup with two riders in 2019. Scottish rider Jack Hart moves across from the British Motostar championship and will compete with the new Wilson Racing rider Fenton Seabright. Team owners Gary Wilson and Nikki Cartwright are keen to take on this huge challenge in the very competitive standard Moto3 class of the FIM CEV Repsol series. Riders from all over the world compete on standard Honda NSF250R Moto3 machines. Hart and Seabright will get to race on famous GP circuits like Jerez, Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia and Motorland in Aragon. In 2018 Jack Hart competed in the Motostar series. The 14-year-old already has experience of the European Talent Cup competition, having raced in the championship in 2017 and competed again as a wildcard at the final round last year. On Saturday the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia was awash with warm sunshine although it took some time for the track to warm up. Qualifying The number of riders entered for the final round of the European talent Cup meant that qualifying had to take place in two separate groups. With the first group out at 08:45 immediately followed by the second at 10:25 the track was still cool. Scott Ogden and Jack Hart were included in the first group with Ogden finished 9th overall with a lap time of 1:46.822. Jack Hart set a time of 1:48.379 putting him 19th quickest, which was impressive as the young Scott had been sick during the morning. Max Cook went out next and his time of 1:46.671 placed him 14th in group B. Just after lunchtime the riders were back on the circuit. By now the temperatures had increased and lap times were falling. The British Motostar standard class season has now finished but you can still cheer on three of our riders in the final round of the British Talent Cup on the 16 – 18 November 2018 at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia. Scott Ogden, Charlie Atkins and Jack Hart will again experience the MotoGP circus that traditionally ends the season in Valencia Spain. Whilst the circuit will be new to Ogden, Atkins and Hart rode there in 2017 in the European Talent Cup and spent a good part of the race battling against each other. All three riders will be hoping they have done enough to convince the organisers’ of the British Talent Cup they should be kept in the championship for 2019. Looking back at the British Motostar Championship 2018 Scott Ogden had a fantastic rookie season. The rider from Belton, near Doncaster narrowly missed out on third position overall with 212 points. The final round of the British Moto3 season proved to be a great one for Barnsley team Wilson Racing. In the first race Max Cook, the 2017 champion riding as a wildcard for his old team, took the race win from teammate Scott Ogden. The second became a race of attrition in poor conditions where Jack Hart was fourth, Osian Jones sixth and Charlie Atkins eighth. Qualifying Scott Ogden put in a superb last lap in qualifying to take pole position in the standard class with a time of 1:37.096. Max Cook would like up third. Charlie Atkins, was inside the top ten with 8th whilst Jack Hart, Jake Clark and Osian Jones were 13th, 16th and 19th respectively. Race One 31 riders from the GP and standard classes competed on the 2.4 mile Brands Hatch GP circuit over ten laps. Max Cook made a superb start to the race moving into the lead and was able to then control the race from the front....
