Double podium at Brands Hatch

James Cook rode two fantastic British Talent Cup Moto3 races at Brands Hatch last weekend for Barnsley’s Wilson Racing. The 13-year-old took third place in the first race and narrowly missed the win in race two finishing just 0.061 seconds behind the winner. Teammate Ryan Hitchcock took a fantastic fourth and fifth-place finish whilst rookie Luca Hopkins collected another championship point for 15th in race two after a 17th position in the first outing. Free practice The weekend could not have got off to a much better start for Wilson Racing. In Free practice, one Ryan Hitchcock registered a lap time of 1:38.508 that put him at the top of the timesheet with James Cook just behind in second. If FP2 the roles were reversed with Cook leading from Hitchcock as the Wilson Racing boys had the other riders taking note. Two podiums at Brands Hatch

The final round of the British Moto3 season proved to be a great one for Barnsley team Wilson Racing. In the first race Max Cook, the 2017 champion riding as a wildcard for his old team, took the race win from teammate Scott Ogden. The second became a race of attrition in poor conditions where Jack Hart was fourth, Osian Jones sixth and Charlie Atkins eighth. Qualifying Scott Ogden put in a superb last lap in qualifying to take pole position in the standard class with a time of 1:37.096. Max Cook would like up third. Charlie Atkins, was inside the top ten with 8th whilst Jack Hart, Jake Clark and Osian Jones were 13th, 16th and 19th respectively. Race One 31 riders from the GP and standard classes competed on the 2.4 mile Brands Hatch GP circuit over ten laps. Barnsley’s Wilson Racing Moto3 team were in action at the final round of the Hel Performance Motostar British standard class Championship last weekend. On the 2.4 mile GP track at Brands Hatch Max Cook took a third and a race victory. Charlie Atkins finished fourth in race one and joined his team-mate on the podium finishing third in race two. Jake Clark ended his rookie season with a tenth and an eighth. Free Practice There were two free practice sessions on the Friday. Max Cook, who has already been crowned 2017 Champion, headed both of them. Charlie Atkins finished the day with the third quickest lap time and Jake Clark was ninth. Qualifying On the Saturday morning the youngsters were out on the track for the 25 minute qualifying session. Another winning weekend for Wilson Racing

Last weekend Barnsley’s Wilson Racing were at Brands hatch in the sixth round of the Hel Performance Motostar British Standard class championship. The three-rider team had two free practice sessions on the Friday. Max Cook finished second quickest in the morning session before ending the day at the top of the standard class timesheet. Charlie Atkins has historically struggled at this track but was sixth quickest at the end of the first day. Jake Clark had never ridden the Brands hatch GP circuit before and managed to reduce his lap time by 1.5 seconds over the two free practice sessions. The Moto3 riders were up early on Saturday morning with qualifying starting at 9am. There had been heavy overnight rain so the track was still damp. As a result all the riders started the 30 minute qualifying session on wet tyres. With around ten minutes to go the team took the decision to bring the riders in and switch to dry tyres. Cook...
