The final round of the British Moto3 season proved to be a great one for Barnsley team Wilson Racing.

In the first race Max Cook, the 2017 champion riding as a wildcard for his old team, took the race win from teammate Scott Ogden. The second became a race of attrition in poor conditions where Jack Hart was fourth, Osian Jones sixth and Charlie Atkins eighth.

Qualifying

Scott Ogden put in a superb last lap in qualifying to take pole position in the standard class with a time of 1:37.096. Max Cook would like up third. Charlie Atkins, was inside the top ten with 8th whilst Jack Hart, Jake Clark and Osian Jones were 13th, 16th and 19th respectively.

Race One

31 riders from the GP and standard classes competed on the 2.4 mile Brands Hatch GP circuit over ten laps. Max Cook made a superb start to the race moving into the lead and was able to then control the race from the front. He crossed the line 3.415 seconds ahead of teammate Scott Ogden who led a group of six riders. Charlie Atkins managed to finish in seventh and Jack Hart also made the top ten. Osian Jones picked up more points with 14th place whilst Jake Clark just missed out crossing the line sixteenth.

Race Two

The rain fell on Sunday and there were patches of standing water on the 2.4 mile GP circuit at Brands Hatch. With visibility also a problem race two saw almost half the standard class Moto3 field fail to finish the race.

Max Cook had a problem on the grid and had to be pulled into pit lane, eventually starting the race dead last. Scott Ogden and Jake Clark were two of the unlucky ones that were caught out by the conditions.

Jack Hart battled bravely and managed his best result of the year finishing a superb fourth. Osian Jones also got his best result with a fantastic sixth position as he held of rival Harvey Claridge. Charlie Atkins came home in eighth place.

Gary Wilson said,” Saturday was superb as it was a double podium. Then on Sunday, in very different weather, three of our riders brought the bikes home with some great results.

As a team we are delighted with the effort all the boys have put in over the season. These are young lads who have shown a lot of commitment and dedication to their sport.
