It was another positive weekend for Barnsley’s Wilson Racing Moto3 team in the Hel Performance British Motostar standard class championship. Not only has Scott Ogden now got 72 points, which puts him level with the rider in third, he got the standard class lap record in race two. The team have also secured some sponsorship from Dijon Home and Flooring. The fourth round took place at the Scottish circuit of Knockhill. The 1.3 mile track had been resurfaced and was bathed in glorious sunshine throughout the weekend. Motostar Knockhill 2018 Free practice There were the usual two free practice sessions on Friday. The fastest times were set in the second session after the riders had provided feedback as to the feel of the new surface. Wilson Racing return to action at Knockhill

It’s now two months since the last round of the Hel Performance British Motostar championship but it feels a lot longer. Round three is at the Scottish circuit of Knockhill in Fife, the local track of Wilson Racing’s Jack Hart. During the break in the Motostar championship Jack was one of three Wilson Racing riders busy in the British Talent Cup. Jack said, “I made a big jump with the bike getting my best results in the championship so far.” The young Scot has also spent time training. Firstly, on his CRF with Rory Skinner and then a long weekend at the circuit de Ribera. Unfortunately, some unseasonal weather meant he didn’t get much track time in Spain. Jack has also been working hard at the gym and now school is finished he is happy to report he should have even more time for bikes. Barnsley based Moto3 racing team Wilson Racing completed another fantastic racing weekend, this time at Oulton Park. 14-year old Scott Ogden managed to finish second in race two moving him up to third overall in the championship. Charlie Atkins scored a fourth place, Jack Hart raced to a seventh and Jake Clark secured two top ten finishes in a really positive weekend. Wilson Racing will be making their way to Oulton Park in Cheshire, for round two of the Hel Performance British Motostar Championship series, this weekend. After round one, wildcard entry and 2017 standard class Champion, Max Cook stood on the podium twice collecting 40 points. Scott Ogden came home sixth in his best race of the weekend and Charlie Atkins, Jack Hart and Jake Clark all scored points. This weekend Max will be on Red Bull Rookies duty and Osian Jones won’t be old enough to ride before the Knockhill round. That leaves four to fly the Wilson Racing flag this weekend. The first round of the Hel Performance British Motostar Championship got underway last weekend. 2017 Championship winning team Wilson Racing had five riders competing in the British Moto3 standard class series. Free practice The weekend started with mixed conditions for the two free practice sessions on Friday. In the first session, the riders were faced with a wet but drying track. Scott Ogden was the fastest of the team riders finishing second quickest. In the afternoon session the track had completely dried. Max Cook, who won the standard class title with Wilson Racing last season, was making a wildcard entry having gone on to the Red Bull Rookies this season. He ended the session in second this time. Gary Wilson’s Barnsley based Moto3 team announce an expanded line-up for the 2018 season. The Hel Performance British Motostar standard class 2017 champions will field five riders in this support series to the British Superbike Championship. 14-year-old race winner Charlie Atkins will complete his third season with the team, having finished fifth overall last season. He ended 2017 with a wildcard race in the European Talent Cup in Valencia. Jake Clark, also 14, will ride for the team for a second year. After his rookie season he was 13th despite not joining the team until the fifth round. There are three new additions to the team including Scotland’s Jack Hart. Currently 12 years old, he won all three Scottish 125 championship titles in 2017 and competed in the very competitive European Talent Cup, predominantly at circuits in Spain. 14-year-old Scott Ogden also joins Wilson Racing after featuring at the final rounds of the Moto3 championship last year. Wilson Racing sealed the Hel Performance British Motostar Standard Class Championship title with rider Max Cook in 2017. It was an unbelievable season which saw Cook score an incredible 517 points. On his way to that tally, he registered twenty-two podiums and fifteen race victories. His nearest rival was a staggering 148 points behind in the standings. The season couldn’t have started better for Wilson Racing. Cook scored a victory in both the races in the opening round at Donington Park and went on to win seven consecutive races. He wrapped the championship up in the second race at Oulton Park meaning he did it with four more races still to go. Wilson Racing riders Max Cook and Charlie Atkins took part in the final round of the European Talent Cup over the weekend. Under clear blue skies the young riders got to enjoy the famous Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia and compete against some of the best young riders in Europe. European Talent Cup Valencia 2017 Qualifying Thirty seven riders took to the track during the first of two forty minute qualifying sessions. In the first of those Max Cook managed to record a lap time of 1:44.077 putting him fourteenth overall and 1.2 seconds behind the leading rider. Charlie Atkins was less fortunate as early in the session another rider went down the inside of the number 56 where there wasn’t a lot of room. The two touched and Atkins crashed out on just his fourth lap. The team worked quickly to get Atkins back out before the end of the session. Barnsley’s Wilson Racing Moto3 team were in action at the final round of the Hel Performance Motostar British standard class Championship last weekend. On the 2.4 mile GP track at Brands Hatch Max Cook took a third and a race victory. Charlie Atkins finished fourth in race one and joined his team-mate on the podium finishing third in race two. With the Championship title wrapped up by Max Cook at the last round the three riders for Barnsley’s British Moto3 team made their way to the famous Dutch TT circuit at Assen. Max Cook secured two more podiums with a second place in each race. Whilst Charlie Atkins struggled in the deluge that was race 1 he excelled in the dry, fighting his way back and only just missing the podium. Jake Clark was unable to take part in race one after a big crash in qualifying but came back with an eighth place finish in race two.
