Wilson Racing had a successful start to the 2021 British Talent Cup championship with a fourth place in race one and all three riders scoring points at Oulton Park last weekend. We have had to wait since mid-October 2020 for the new British Talent Cup season to begin but it proved very eventful for the Barnsley based team. This season the three riders competing in the standard Moto3 category of the British Superbike Championship series are James Cook, Ryan Hitchcock and rookie Luca Hopkins. Free practice The event got underway on Friday when around thirty riders competed in two free practice sessions in mixed conditions. In FP1 the riders faced a damp by drying track. James Cook showed his pre-season form when he set the third fastest time. Ryan Hitchcock was just a tenth outside the top ten in 13th position whilst Luca Hopkins spent the time learning the circuit for the first time finishing 24th. Moto3 season ends brightly for Wilson Racing

The British Talent Cup Moto3 season concluded at Brands Hatch last weekend with all three team riders back on track. There were two races over the weekend with James Cook finishing 6th in his best of the weekend and Ryan Hitchcock was 10th. Josh Hiatt returned from injury and successfully completed both races. Qualifying All the British Talent Cup riders were sent out on wet tyres for qualifying. There had been rain overnight and the cold temperature of the morning had left the track damp. This was the first time for Hitchcock and Cook on the 2.7 mile GP circuit. It was the returning Josh Hiatt who qualified best of the trio. He lined up 14th on the grid for the first race. James Cook was two places further back in 16th and Ryan Hitchcock posted the 19th best time. Wilson Racing results brighten a damp Donington

Despite the poor weather conditions at the British Talent Cup event at Donington Park last weekend, the Moto3 rookies of James Cook and Ryan Hitchcock came through with some great results. In the first race of the weekend Cook finished in a strong sixth position which he followed up with an eighth in race two on the Sunday. As Hitchcock gained confidence in the wet of race one he crossed the line in tenth. Sunday saw him improve further to cross the line in seventh. Qualifying Due to the inclement weather the usual qualifying session held on Saturday morning was cancelled. The race organisers took the best lap times from the two Friday free practice sessions to set up the grid for race one. In the cloudy but dry morning free practice James Cook had registered the seventh fastest lap time whilst teammate Ryan Hitchcock was 11th. Successful Silverstone for Wilson Racing

Wilson Racing completed another confident weekend in the championship at Silverstone last weekend. James Cook battled in the leading group of riders finishing with two sixth places and Ryan Hitchcock knew came through the encounter with an 8th and 7th place finish. They now stand 9th and 10th respectively in the championship in their rookie season. Qualifying Ryan Hitchcock posted a 1:03.096 which was the seventh fastest lap time in qualifying. Team mate James Cook had improved significantly in free practice on Friday and finished the second session fourth quickest. Unfortunately, the thirteen-year-old was unable to repeat that in qualifying and started the race from fourteenth position. Wilson Racing continued their positive start to the British Talent Cup season with Ryan Hitchcock taking two top ten finishes, Josh Hiatt picked up his first championship points and James Cook recovered from electrical problems in race one to finish 11th in race two. Qualifying Friday had seen to very wind-blown free practice sessions. It was proving tough for the young riders on such light-weight machines both all three did well. Saturday morning the weather was bright but the wind was still strong for qualifying. James Cook and Ryan Hitchcock took three top ten finishes between them at Donington Park, for the Dronfield Moto3 racing team. The Honda British Talent Cup finally got underway at Donington Park last weekend. Wilson Racing has always been a team to provide an environment in which to develop young motorcycle racing talent. This year’s line up of three riders would all like to go on and emulate previous team members like Max Cook and Scott Ogden who have gone through Wilson Racing and on to Moto3 Junior World Championship, just one stop below World level. Qualifying James Cook was the fastest of the three new riders clocking 1:20.409 to qualify 9th for race one. Team mate Ryan Hitchcock clocked the 12th best time. Fenton Seabright , who rides for Barnsley’s Wilson Racing, had two points scoring finishes in the extremely competitive European Talent Cup series in Jerez, Spain. The standard Moto3 series is seen as a breeding ground for future MotoGP talent with Wilson Racing one of just two British teams competing in the series. Qualifying After a couple of very positive free practice days qualifying took place on Saturday. With nearly 60 riders the format is to split the riders into two groups. Jerez 2019 Fenton Seabright was out in the first group at around nine on Saturday morning. The track temperature was still cool. He recorded a 1:51.020 which put him sixth. Unfortunately, Seabright miscalculated the time left at the end of the session. This meant he made a late pit stop for fresh rubber but he was unable to make the best use of it. Moto3 Wilson Racing team from Barnsley were competing at the MotorLand circuit in Aragon last weekend. The local Moto3 team compete in the European Talent Cup (ETC). Jack Hart finished just outside the top twenty in the first European Talent Cup race and then 25th in race two. Seabright suffered some technical issues which meant he didn’t qualify for the main races. Forced to compete in the series 2 race for those outside the qualifying time Seabright left with some consolation as he took a comfortable win. Barnsley Moto3 team were out in Barcelona last weekend for the third round of the European Talent Cup. It was a tough weekend for both Fenton Seabright and Jack Hart. Seabright managed to finish in the points with 15th place whilst Jack Hart crossed the line in 33rd spot. Qualifying Fenton Seabright finished 11th overall in qualifying group A. In the first session the team struggled a bit with bike set-up with it being the first time at this circuit. Seabright finished 12th overall. In the second session he initially was up against it running low down the order. However, after some further adjustments he managed a lap of 1:53.935 for fifth in Q2. Only a handful of riders improved in the hotter conditions and this time put him 11th in the combined standings for group A. Jack Hart took part in the Group B qualifying sessions. Wilson Racing, the Moto3 team from Barnsley, suffered mixed fortunes over the weekend. Jack Hart showed fantastic pace but crashed out of both races, the first whilst leading. Seabright suffered a harsh grid penalty of 12 places but managed to comeback and score points in both races. Qualifying With 62 riders attempting to make the 38 rider grid qualifying was split into two groups. Jack Hart continued the form that saw him stand on the podium in the recent British Talent Cup event as he finished third in his group. Fenton Seabright also set a good lap time ending his two qualifying sessions in seventh overall. Unfortunately for the runner up in race one at Estoril, he was sanctioned with a 12 place grid penalty.
