Wilson Racing return to action at Knockhill

It’s now two months since the last round of the Hel Performance British Motostar championship but it feels a lot longer. Round three is at the Scottish circuit of Knockhill in Fife, the local track of Wilson Racing’s Jack Hart. During the break in the Motostar championship Jack was one of three Wilson Racing riders busy in the British Talent Cup. Jack said, “I made a big jump with the bike getting my best results in the championship so far.” The young Scot has also spent time training. Firstly, on his CRF with Rory Skinner and then a long weekend at the circuit de Ribera. Unfortunately, some unseasonal weather meant he didn’t get much track time in Spain. Jack has also been working hard at the gym and now school is finished he is happy to report he should have even more time for bikes. Oulton Park May 2018 Preview

Wilson Racing will be making their way to Oulton Park in Cheshire, for round two of the Hel Performance British Motostar Championship series, this weekend. After round one, wildcard entry and 2017 standard class Champion, Max Cook stood on the podium twice collecting 40 points. Scott Ogden came home sixth in his best race of the weekend and Charlie Atkins, Jack Hart and Jake Clark all scored points. This weekend Max will be on Red Bull Rookies duty and Osian Jones won’t be old enough to ride before the Knockhill round. That leaves four to fly the Wilson Racing flag this weekend. There are two rounds each season at Oulton Park. In 2017 there were a total of three races in which Charlie Atkins scored two sixth places and a ninth. Gary Wilson’s Barnsley based Moto3 team announce an expanded line-up for the 2018 season. The Hel Performance British Motostar standard class 2017 champions will field five riders in this support series to the British Superbike Championship. 14-year-old race winner Charlie Atkins will complete his third season with the team, having finished fifth overall last season. He ended 2017 with a wildcard race in the European Talent Cup in Valencia. Jake Clark, also 14, will ride for the team for a second year. After his rookie season he was 13th despite not joining the team until the fifth round. There are three new additions to the team including Scotland’s Jack Hart. Currently 12 years old, he won all three Scottish 125 championship titles in 2017 and competed in the very competitive European Talent Cup, predominantly at circuits in Spain. 14-year-old Scott Ogden also joins Wilson Racing after featuring at the final rounds of the Moto3 championship last year. 2017 Motostar standard class Champions

Wilson Racing sealed the Hel Performance British Motostar Standard Class Championship title with rider Max Cook in 2017. It was an unbelievable season which saw Cook score an incredible 517 points. On his way to that tally, he registered twenty-two podiums and fifteen race victories. His nearest rival was a staggering 148 points behind in the standings. The season couldn’t have started better for Wilson Racing. Cook scored a victory in both the races in the opening round at Donington Park and went on to win seven consecutive races. He wrapped the championship up in the second race at Oulton Park meaning he did it with four more races still to go. Jake Clark joins Wilson Racing

14-year-old Jake Clark has joined Max Cook and Charlie Atkins in the Wilson Racing Team. The Bromsgrove youngster has been competing in the Aprilia Superteens series this season, which both Max and Charlie did in the past, but withdrew to save funds in the hope of securing a ride in the Hel Performance Motostar British standard class. "Clarky", as he is known, now has that opportunity with Wilson Racing and commences a new stage in his motorcycle career at the Snetterton 300 circuit this weekend. Look out for the number "13". Although Clark has been into bikes from a very young age it was in 2011/2012 that he began to race. He did some events at the Scott Redding Academy in Swindon before entering the Mini-Moto4.2 class of Fab-Racing. He progressed through to the Minimoto GP70 series in 2015 and finished runner-up. The British Superbike pre-season testing programme got into full swing in Southern Spain last week. Gary Wilson and his team of three Moto3 riders spent four days testing at the circuit at Cartagena alongside the British Superbike teams. Wilson Racing compete in the Moto3 Hel Performance Motostar British Championship standard class and are hoping to build on the successes of their first year. Gary Wilson’s 2016 riders finished fourth and eighth in the series in 2016. For 2017 Max Cook and Tom Alexander have joined Charlie Atkins to form a three rider team. The Cartagena circuit usually enjoys good weather throughout most of the year, making it a firm favourite for the teams to test at. The 3.5 kilometre circuit has a main straight of just over 600 metres, 8 left hand corners and 10 right-handers providing most of the ingredients needed to help prepare for the coming season. Wilson Racing expand to 3 rider line-up for 2017 season

The Wilson Racing team, who compete in the Hel Performance Motostar British Championship standard class, have expanded to a three rider team for the 2017 season. The team turned a few heads last year when in its first season in the standard class championship its riders finished fourth and eighth and took a race win. Charlie Atkins Whilst TJ Toms has moved on to race in the National Superstock 600 class, Gary Wilson has retained the services of 13-year-old Charlie Atkins. He finished 8th in the standard class and took his maiden victory at Assen. The youngster from Goole made the podium twice and continued to improve as the season went on. Previously he has been a double British Minimoto Champion. Max Cook Joining Atkins will be 14-year-old Max Cook. Dronfield based Wilson Racing have been invited to compete at the Sachsenring in July at the MotoGP event.

Team owner Gary Wilson confirmed that his two 250cc Moto3 riders TJ Toms and Charlie Atkins, who compete in the standard class of Hel Performance British Motostar Championship, would be racing in Germany on the MotoGP weekend of the 15th to 17th July. After three rounds TJ Toms is currently leading the Moto3 standard class, which is a support series to British Superbikes. The series is made up of 22 races at 20 venues throughout the UK and is seen as a breeding ground for up and coming motorcycle racing talent. At the beginning of 2015 Gary Wilson had moved to Almeria in southern Spain to semi-retire but having been involved in motorcycle racing all his life he soon abandoned his new lifestyle to set up a new team to compete in the British Motostar series standard class, along with his partner Nikita Cartwright.
